As part of the new Brooklands College site development, Church Road in Ashford has not only divided opinions it has also divided the Town, Quite literally.
Local businesses are struggling due to poor footflow, signage, notifications and organisation by the developers as well as the county and local councils.
The works started on Tuesday 30th July in order to allow the vast majority of works to be carried out during the school holidays when the roads would generally be quieter, with the works ending on Friday 18th October.
At a recent update meeting held on Wednesday 11th September less residents and shop retailers attended the public meeting than had at previous update meetings with more points raised on the sheer scale of the development and the suggested impact it will have on the town.
Officers from the Spelthorne Council Planning Committee were also present to answer questions on the development.
With the focus on the road closure, work has and is progressing well and it was suggested the high street, Church road, may re-open early… Possibly in the first week of October.
This is very good news if it happens, the sooner the better, to allow some type of normality back onto the high street.
